Manples Tours

The best way to discover Efate is by doing a round island tour with a local. Manples means "local" in Vanuatu, and so Manples Tours is a genuine, locally owned and operated business. Run by Jonah John, also known as JJ, and his lovely wife, Violet. It's a full-day tour that takes in the main attractions from the comfort of an air-conditioned bus. These include Blue Lagoon, Eton Beach, a cultural village, World War 2 places of interest, Gideon's Landing and Tanna Coffee. JJ is bilingual being fluent in both French and English and an experienced, knowledgeable guide. This tour has excellent ratings and is highly recommended. Price includes pickups from your accommodation, entrance fees and lunch.

Massage - Local and Thai

There are numerous Thai massage parlours in Port Vila. While not relaxing, they will certainly get the crick out of your neck! Prices are reasonable and they often offer discounts for repeat customers. Couples massages and complimentary therapies are available. There are several parlours near the Grand Casino on the southern side of town. There is also a locally run massage and beauty spa called Paradise Spa on the northern side of town, opposite the Bred Bank. Alternatively, some stores offer local massage at very reasonable prices. A highly recommended Thai massage parlour can be found in the Tana Cine complex on the ground floor near the French bakery.

If you would like our fully qualified French masseuse to visit you on site at your holiday villa around Efate, please email us. He comes highly recommended for all massage types and is also a fully qualified chiropractor.

If you are planning on visiting Santo, please do not miss the amazing Moyyan Day Spa - you can also enjoy a fabulous meal here right on the beach.

Melanesian Feast Night(s)

Your time in Vanuatu will not be complete without immersing yourself in a Melanesian Feast Night. Most large resorts have them, and all are highly recommended. Erakor Island, Hideaway Island, Le Lagon, Breakas, and many others all have Melanesian Nights every week. The stand out feast night for us is provided by the Ekasup Cultural Village, just a few minutes east of Port Vila. For more information, please contact Ekasup Village

Moso Island Day Tour - Turtle Bay

Moso Island is an untouched paradise off the North West tip of Efate, about 45 minutes from Port Vila. There are several tours and trips that will get you to Moso, but this one is totally different. Run by locals that have lived on the island their whole life, you really step outside the 'touristy' well-trodden path here. The tour arranges your transfers for you from your accommodation around 8.30 in the morning. When you return to Port Vila in the late afternoon, you will have experienced snorkelling on untouched reef, swimming, kayaking, and relaxing in the clear blue waters and enjoyed a freshly cooked BBQ lunch that will feature the freshest of local produce. You will also have visited a local village, school and turtle hatchery. Refreshments are provided throughout the day, and your local guide will be able to answer all your questions about their island home. A fantastic grass roots tour that doesn't disappoint. Email, phone or check them out on Facebook.

Suzanne Bastien Foundation Gallery

The Suzanne Bastien Foundation Gallery is a bright and airy space that houses the intriguing 'Maps of Vanuatu' art exhibition. It also regularly exhibits local artist's work and has a small art school that runs classes from time to time. Suzanne Bastien founded the gallery in the 60's and some of the collection dates to this time, offering you an interesting peak into the lives of locals and expats living and working in Vanuatu before the days of Independence. Worth the short 3 minute drive from Port Vila to Pango, the 'art precinct' of Port Vila.

The Moso

Moso Island is just a few hundred metres off the north western corner of Efate. Moso Island is an untouched tropical paradise with reefs, white sand beaches and turquoise waters, and it now also boasts a modern yet very relaxed resort, The Moso. We visited as day guests. A 30 minute drive from Vila brings you to the wharf, simply ring Joel at The Moso and in 5 minutes your transfer boat will be waiting for you. We were lucky enough to visit The Moso on a quiet day, and we were the only guests. After a relaxing cocktail by the water and a swim, we enjoyed perfectly cooked local seafood and chilled Australian wine. We then went for a short kayak north of the resort, we even saw a large turtle swimming on the reef - perfect. There is also a pool at the resort, massages are available, and The Moso has a very impressive cocktail list (ours were delish!)

The ideal spot for a relaxing and retreating from everything, all you need is on hand. Joel and his team take care of everything for you - right down to the luxury beach towels that are happily provided. Highly recommended.
